I want to make the Conyard reveal the whole map. Can this be done? Is there a way to reveal the map other then getting the crate?

You can only do this via trigger on a certain map.
e.g.
Trigger House: Nod
Event: Build buildingtype=conyard
Action: Reveal All map

but on a multiplayer map, any Nod player will then cause this trigger to fire.
And it will then also reveal the map for all player, not only for the one who triggered it.

Using it on multiplayer will no doubt also cause a recon error the moment reveal trigger is activated so such trigger should only be used in single player.

Atleast RA2 does it for sure, somehow game thinks somebody is cheating so would not surprise me see it here either.

I'm pretty sure it works in TS, as i've seen maps which have special gimmicks like "Kill 3 special billboards to reveal map".

I've also played a few long-ish multiplayer matches on maps with a reveal all trigger (executed right on the start of a match though).

you can edit shroud.shp inside conquer.mix, and replace its frames with black color (transparent)
(dunno if deleting the file works too)

in any case, all ways of "reveal" isn't real reveal
as game engine is bugged, and via crate or like this OR external map reveal program
don't reveal the terrain properly, they only remove shroud
yet no animations or explosions will you see until you come with units
to "that" place

so you're screwed in either way

would be nice if future hyperpatch would bring something to counter this bug
or better yet to provide real terrain reveal #Tongue

This would actually make sense in regards to quite a few reconnection errors I have seen in my time. Most of them seem to happen after a trigger has sprung or some time after somebody has collected a reveal-all crate. I stood by the fact that it is merely a coincidence though.

I'd disable game-changing crates like map reveal and (especially) map reshroud crates anyhow.

I don't see why map reveal crates would cause reconnect errors though, considering the revealed shroud of different players isn't (and doesn't need to be) synchronized to begin with and I don't see why one player would need to send data relating to the shroud he revealed to another player to begin with unless a radar has been infiltrated by a spy.

The spy is far more significant in RA2 however, so maybe that's a reason why data about revealed shroud is more actively shared between players in RA2.

But skirmish should be good, right? I'm now gonna do the trigger thing LKO offered for a map or two... thousand.

It will cause bug if you are doing it for online multiplayer (which will cause all players within that side to reveal the map.) But yeah, works fine for SP or only with AI.

It only works for the first player to use the the faction which is owned by the trigger.
So if there are 2 players with GDI, only the first player will get the reveal.

"Reveal all map" is a global Action and reveals for all player regardless the House of the Trigger.
