I've made my own palette for a new side I'm adding into my mod, and i want to give there vehicles like a minty blue colour. so i made a custom palette for there vehicles, JAPUNIT (TEM, SNO, URB etc). But then when i start a game playing as Japan, which use my new palette, all the vehicles go pink, as if the palette hasn't loaded. this problem has had me baffled for a while now. I assume voxels can have custom palettes right?

In the units art entry i have obviusly added Palette=JAPUNIT.

I am using ARES.

thx to anyone who can help

You're assuming too much. This isn't the case, unfortunately enough.

i see, thx. it must have been because on the ares documentation it says this
Quote:
each building or unit has an associated palette for each theater it can be deployed into

i suppose i can edit UNITTEM to add in my new colours though?

Yeah.

You're stupid.

Modding rule #1: WE NEVER MODIFY THE ORIGINAL MIXES (unless you know what you're doing... but you don't)

Also, for custom colors, you have to override (throw the pals into an expand) not just unittem, but uniturb, unitubn, unitsno and unitdes too. Overriding unitlun is an option, it depends on your will to support lunar maps at all.

Also, you have to modify the vpl too to enable that Japan gradient.

i haven't modified the original mixes, i've extracted them and put them in my game folder. Plus everything is backed up

i have done unit(tem, sno, urb and all that). And I've tried all of the rest above

thank you for this, i think this is my problem, the rest is ok

also there was no need for the pointless insult. I still don't know what you have agaist me?

Well at least he's also helping the new guy instead of just posting rants without contributing any help.

dodge, you could also do research in ModEnc before posting a question. If your absolutely certain your stuck just post here. Also it may be a good idea to base your VPL from Apollo's Edited one as that also has some minor touch ups/fixes like making #0 translucent so you can possibly use that to make proper shadows for voxels or making proper wheels.

Actually my edited one not support #0 yet which I released since was discovered afterwards but the change is really simple and I wouldn't call my vpl a minor touch up, its more of a rewrite, just not complete, I may overhaul it further and release better version.

Dodge, you wouldn't come off as terrible if you did more research as some of us researched and posted on these things long ago, namely research center forum and modenc.
