Red Alert 1 has been added to the site.
Subject description: And you can download both RA1 and C&C95 from us. It's time to control the past!
Hello everyone! We've recently introduced Red Alert 1 into our list of games in the left menu of the site. Now you are able to browse its editing forums, download SHPs (which you may need to convert to SHP(TD) format) and... the big bonus here: download the game straight from our servers. We plan to add more resources for it later, specially links to official and community used patches and tutorials that may work for RA1 modders.
Talking about Downloads, we've also added C&C 95 here. Both Red Alert 1 and Command & Conquer 95 were released as freeware by EA during the celebrations of the 12th and 13th anniversary of these games. You can download their both CDs straight from our servers. However, bear in mind that these ISO files are huge and we need to make sure that bots won't download them, otherwise they'll consume all our bandwidth and make the server become very slow. In order to prevent bots from downloading them, we've placed a protection for unregistered users only. You'll need to play a flash game captcha in order to download them as guest... or just login to the site. Then, downloading these files become a very trivial task.
Use these games (or Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2) in order to participate from the Grand Campaign Competition and get games like Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Dead Space 3, Medal of Honor (2010), Mirror's Edge
Sims 3 Starter Pack, Batman: Arkham Asylum (Game of the Year) and The Lord of the Rings: War in the North.
And finally, once we confirm that this anti-bot download protection is successful, we may add more big files for download. And in the next days, we'll increment the content for most games in our left menu as well. Keep browsing PPM and stay tuned for more news. QUICK_EDIT
The EA forums also link the expansions for the game, which is why Chickendippers hosts them (after also asking Apoc about them), EA just forgot to release the expansion discs. QUICK_EDIT

Ok, Iran. In this case, I'll add them as soon as possible.
And Allen, ETS and other community patches like Ares are not illegal. Maybe it is somewhere in the grey line (it violates the TOS of the game like mods), but we support them here. QUICK_EDIT
Don't forget that even if you host a file illegally under the DMCA the copyright holder needs to send you a takedown notice first before they can take any action.
I've got the game expansions ISOs if you can't find them.
It's pretty hard to install and patch the game using the ISOs, FunkyFr3sh and me made some custom downloads with simple installers (like my PortableRA) but they use the beta ra303p patch and there might in-game bugs with them, I'm still adding new features and bugs fixes for Westwood bugs but it's been pretty stable now.

Its gray but likely dark gray.
You can't use the ISOs to install RA1 Win7 or newer since the install program WestWood made for it is 16 bit. Even you use the ISO and get them to install on XP or Vista it won't run since the game need to be patch up to 1.07/1.08 (ConterStike).
I think PortableRA is the best way to get RA1 if you don't have RA1 any more or you can't install it from the old CDs or ISOs.
FunkyFr3sh's set up work best to patch and update old CD install on XP and Vista. It also work to do the same for the half working The First Decade and Ultimate Collection RA1 installs.
Both PortableRA, FunkyFr3sh's set up work well over all. _________________
will there be a proper TD/RA1 shp tutorial? I heard Shp builder can't deal with that... _________________ I am Zengar Zombolt, The Sword That Cleaves Evil! There is Nothing I can not Cut! QUICK_EDIT

SHP Builder can open TD/RA1 shp just fine but can't save them fine. You have to save them as TS/RA2 and use XCC Mixer to convet it back to TD/RA1 _________________

It was fixed in a beta 3.37 SHP Builder version.

I had the old 3.37 (2008-2009) and it didn't work. Found a link to Beta 11. Work for building so far but chokes (fails) with infantry that are 300+ frames where it is really needed. _________________
Huh, just a quick question Allen.
How big is that file with 300 frames?

If I had that file, I could try to debug with it. :0 QUICK_EDIT

C1 is 198 frames and is 20.0 KB when extracked from the stock Hires.mix. When saved with SHP Builder 28.0 KB. XCC knows it is .shp so it should work in game.
E1 is 438 frames and is 44.0 KB when extracked from the stock Hires.mix. When saved with SHP Builder 56.0 KB XCC knows it is .shp so it should work in game.
E5 is 566 frames and is 56.0 KB when extracked from the stock Hires.mix. When saved with SHP Builder 92.0 KB but XCC has it as a unknow and it won't work in game.
Okay, I succeeded to save and reload E1 E5 with OSSB. Even XCC was okay with it.
I changed a couple of things in one file. The only I noticed is it doesn't load the correct palette
for the guy, but I'm too tired I don't even know.
File : SHP_RA_File.pas
// Offsets are 3 bytes long (from Vlado's document)
TSHPTDOffsetUnit.Offset from word to longword
TSHPTDOffsetUnit.ReOffset from word to longword
From there, I changed the way it's writing the Frame Headers to the file.
Also, it wrote only 8 bytes of zeros after the fileSize, when it should be 12,
but I'm not even sure if this matters or not.
It's just written in Vlado's document too.
Anyway, I'll include the modified SHP_RA_File.pas.
I don't know if Banshee is okay with me giving out unofficial builds/demos,
I'll have to ask him.
It's 5:00 AM here, I might need to rewrite some things after getting some sleep.

I'm not against giving out unofficial builds. This program is open source and anyone is free to edit it or create a fork of it, as long as the source code is distributed.
Anyway, I've replaced my SHP_RA_File.pas with yours and I've done a naive test. I've opened the TS civilian unit and saved it as SHP (TD). OS SHP Builder did crash when it tried to open it and XCC Mixer did not recognize it as a valid SHP file. QUICK_EDIT
Converting TS -> TD will require a bit more work.
I assume it will have to change the TS shadow index with
the TD shadow index, and then combine the shadows with
their unit frame.
I will try. I just realized you can already make that convertion with other tools available. So I'm not going to touch this.
Here's the build with the somewhat fixed TD -> TD in the meantime.
@Banshee
Weird, I downloaded my demo and tried what you did, and OSSB didnt crash. Maybe I gave you the wrong file.
Try with them, even though the code should still be the same in SHP_RA_Code.
