I remember reading sometime ago that you could make separate ini files for vehicles, infantry, buildings and the game would read them if you code them properly............ Does any one actually do this?

I have finished organizing terrain ini files and was looking at starting the rules and was curious about people's process for these.

That's an Ares feature if memory serves.  Obviously I suggest checking the documentation.

Ares [#include] logic...

FA2 cant read the extra ini files so you are limited in how much you can use this feature if you ever want to make maps for your mod, so no one has really used it AFAIK.

I use it internally but during mod packaging, I just copy all my sub-rules into a dummy folder and tell Windows to
Code:
copy /b rules_*.ini rulesmd.ini

yeah i know this, i was just curious how many people use it and what problems can be found, but I guess Mig answered that one. It's a shame, I like the fact that things are split up, but others will say its a pain..... thanks for the answers guys

I personally use this, as it is a very useful feature, not to mention you could append someone else's art or rules for a unit into your rules without any work.
Personally I think it should be the new way we release our things for RA2. Makes everything easy.

Ex.
[#include]
1=rules_mayan.ini
