An archiver that is better than all others I've tried
Subject description: NanoZip...
So I were surfing the net and looking for something that could be useful or of interest, and I came to find this
http://www.nanozip.net/
An experimental archiving program that I think is much better than all of the others I've tried...
I think modders (and generally everyone else) should use it when compressing stuff, I compressed a few PDF files using WinZip and WinRar and their size was 9 Mb with the archive being a self extracting one (SFX)
and amazingly the program cut that down to 6 MB (also SFX, 5 Mb if not)
I ran tests with larger filesizes consisting of mixed data types (both compressed and uncompressed data such as audio & plain text mixed in) comparing this to LZMA compression used by 7-zip. Compression used by NanoZip won by an average of 1-2% in terms of compression ratio and 1 second in terms of compression time. Who knows if that's all accurate but the fact that pretty much no other programs will be able to work with NZ's compression makes using it moot point for anything but for your own personal use without SFX archive feature. Still interesting though, I guess. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
