The first episodes of BSG were extremely nice, but when they started with all this gods nonsense it became too weird and wacky. (i was so waiting for them to find earth with the current era of mankind like in the classic BSG episodes, but then this stupid ending of them landing on a what? A several thousand years ago prehistoric earth? Face palm! )
The only good moments after all this god crap started were, when they showed the nicely rendered ships, especially the Kodiak.

No point talking of newer BSG, Moore ruined it entirely, whole series lost meaning with tons of nonsense like Earth 1 and then you got Earth 2 being prehistoric...

The reason is simple, they wrote it up along as they went instead of knowing from the start where they were going at!

Heck, I heard starbuck was supposed to be one of the five but Moore pulled different spin to throw off fans.

Heck this old series arrival to Earth is far more pleasant, okay fan edit...

SHUDDUP.
SHUDDUP ALL OF YOU
*PUTS FINGERS IN EARS*
LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

okay, to be honest, when I was younger, I just liked the space battles and action, but every time I watch the series again, I always see new messages in it. I guess each to their own. I just really loved the old girl (the ship), and to hear she would never jump again always gets me.

BSG is just not that good. B5 were first space theme series I have ever seen and I loved it so much and it still looks good. Later I have tried to find something similar. but neither Star Wars, Star Trek or BSG was that interesting to watch. Only Lexx was somehow attractive because of it's weirdness. And Firefly+Serenity, which I am also a big fan of.

B5 had the benefit of being entirely planned for its entire 5 year run thus everything set up in first seasons did eventually make sense having completed the series instead of make up as go and set up loose framework in start.

Something BSG never or most series never were designed in mind with.

More accurately, B5 was planned for four seasons. Since they weren't sure whether they'd get renewed for a fifth they packed a lot of their resolutions into the fourth season.  So the Shadow War arc ends there, and the means that first half of the fifth season is a bit flat and dull imo (Byron was a huge drag).  The setup for the "Telepath War" that had been being foreshadowed for the past two or three seasons became practically nothing.  Fortunately Londo gets a great storyline in the third through fifth seasons, redeeming that tail end a lot.

I do sort of wonder how much better B5 would have been if it had been greenlit for all five seasons at once.  EarthGov/The Psi Corps might have gotten a bit more development if the fourth season didn't have such dense plotting, and then maybe the fifth season could have put the telepath storyline of the shadow war to more use.

But those are just minor nitpicks.  Crusade had a decent chance to fix some of those issues, before being cancelled.  And it was like a recreation of Blake's 7, which was pretty cool.

Orac... I'm confused by your statement (they didn't plan for 4 seasons, it was rush condensed), its my understanding that they didn't lock the amount of years contract by the tv network so there was this situation of getting or not another season every year kinda and actually the original plot was really meant to span 5 seasons indeed with season 4 ending with the shadow war and Sheridan's capture and thus season 5 would have dealt with the war against Clark and freeing of Earth and the fall of Centauri no doubt as seen in latter half.

Since season 4 had to be condensed to hold most of season 5 by tv network stating your not gonna get 5th season... and then they changed minds later, season 5 had very little left to do thus whole telepath thing... Even blowing up B5 bit stuff episode was done in season 4 but moved to season 5 given Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova) didn't agree for season 5 thus Lochley yet Ivanova appears in said S5 episode.

Its all the fault of the TV network in charge at the time and same damn tv network ended Crusade as they wanted more porn/nudity and writer refused thus the awkward human/alien sex scene in crusade trying go with it for a while :/

I'll somewhat defend BSG by saying that it was enjoyable enough. I don't much enjoy TV sci-fi anyway but BSG was OK. It had some cool stuff at times and I quite liked it ending as the beginning of this Earth, even if they did smash it over the head for stupid members of the audience.

Star Trek was the peak of TV scifi, after that cheap drama an computer graphics replaced the need to have thought-provoking, intelligent situations where people practice actual problem solving, leadership, and cooperation.
There are a few exceptions, like Firefly, and Stargate Universe was OK, but for the most part TV Sci-fi has lost my confidence
Blarg.
