From the news I have seen we have something to be looking forward to.
I like almost all kinds of RTS games, here is a few old schoolers brought back to life:

HD Homeworld 1 + Homeworld 2. (basicly the best Space-RTS ever made)

The next news is widespread information (or Blizzard leaks), but it seems Warcraft 1+2 will come in updated versions for Windows 7+8 and HD too!

If you have not already checked it out Stronghold crusader is available in a HD version aswell! Along with Age of empires 2 - if you are into those kinds of games Razz

I moved it to Game Chat. Nuendo will have to register to PPM if he wants to make any posts outside of DTA's section however.

The old forum still exists, but since it's inconvenient for DTA's players/followers to be spread out over 3 different locations (Mod DB, PPM and DTA's old website), I decided to that it would be better to make DTA's profile at Mod DB into DTA's site instead and use PPM for DTA's main forums.

This is also more convenient for DTA's players/followers, since it's easier to get in touch with one another this way and since PPM is full of experienced modders, help with any technical issues can come much quicker (at DTA's website there were 3 people to answer technical questions at most, myself included).

There was a "leaked" image; I wish I had saved it, that had several warcraft 3 orc units in higher poly models on the SC2 editor.
Now with starcraft 2 multiplayer being a free to play game since the latest patch, as it enables starter edition players to play as every race and play the arcade (custom maps) it seems a credible rumor that Blizzard will update its older games to work on the SC2 engine.
In addition, considering that Blizzard's dota (Heroes of the Storm) is being developed on starcraft's editor, and it is meant to be an standalone game it makes this more plausible.

If the rumor has any credibility you should expect to see all the SC2 warcraft 3 remakes slowly disappear.

On a sidenote, latest SC2 update includes the option to select a new "rules archive" (extension mods) when selecting a map, meaning that SC2 modding is not limited anymore to map mods. And blizzard also released official modelling tools for 3ds max 2011.

I've gotten used to this forum's ptifo theme, since I've been using it since I joined PPM in 2003 (11 years ago already Neutral

time flies xD) and that was the default theme back then.
If you like, you can change the forum's theme in your profile and see if there's a different theme from the one you're using right now that you prefer; just go to Profile > Board layout > Board Style.

i play a lot of SC2:HOTS lately [mostly vs bot since i hate to play with people] and yes for the last patch it allow free player play all map in arcade mod and all race in custom mode however they not allow to choose difficult of AI [but i think paid player can invite them to play with all difficult AI] but it's not problem for most player since most people who play this game go for MP anyway.

i hope WC2 HD will be true HD not just something like AOE where they just set resolution to 1080 , improve water effect then sell it. i mean i expect for total redraw for every graphic in that game. #Tongue

until now WC2 is the most enjoyable RTS i ever play anyway can't wait to see how it look like. Smile

I still have War2BNE somewhere. Can't check if I could install it tho due to lack of CD drives.

But yea, War2 was also my first RTS. I miss it sometimes.
