Network Socket error
Subject description: Issue connecting to cncnet
I've been trying to play DTA on cncnet with my brother but have had some issues. When trying to connect to cncnet he sees the lobby with no games or players listed and after about 30 seconds get this message:
"A network socket error occurred while attempting to connect to the specified server."
He is running DTA on Windows 7, hasn't been able to connect yet to cncnet successfully. I've walked him through running as administrator as well as running a command line repair with the following commands:
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
netsh winsock reset catalog
Neither of these worked. I'm somewhat of an amateur as far as my technical knowledge goes so I'm not sure what to try next. Any suggestions? QUICK_EDIT
Disable firewall and/or anti-virus and then try to connect again. Quite often it works then, because firewall or anti-virus blocked the connection.
If it's this case, then you only have to set in the firewall/anti-virus that the DTA folder is a trusted application and allow all internet traffic. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
I've never seen / heard this error happening with DTA before, so I can't really say any specific things to try except for general connection troubleshooting (for which you can most likely find guidelines on Google just as well as I do). Sorry. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
