I want to make a vehicle along the lines of the IFV. The normal image would be Image A. It would be a light tank. Image B would be if a rocket trooper/flak/ggi were inside and it would have a rocket turret (imagine a small mlrs on the back). Image C would be if a "hero" inside a it could have a chain gun turret. My problem is I don't know what the generic basic unit should look like, the blue sections are what change and there is part of my problem. the only one to have what A has is A. Am I going to have to make the whole top the turret that does not rotate?

Meaning that the blue sections will be my turrets that do not rotate. or is there a way that turret A can rotate while the other 2 do not

You can try using the WeaponXTurretLocked Tags in Art.ini

Make sure whatever Weapon set has OmniFire. I'm not sure if they bug up the unit. The Turret will only lock itself when attacking though. Ordering the unit to move will still make the Turret rotate.

You could try making the entire unit a Turret and using a dummy Shadow VXL for the base.

Another option, use an empty unit for VLX, and instead use the full turret VLX. (As well as made by Laser Disk
)

it's VXL, not VLX Wink

using the whole turret for the unit is bad, because the turret is always facing directly towards the target point, while the unit is moving along the cell grid. Thus you'll have the unit slide sideways when the unit moves north but the target is a bit to the side to which the turret is already pointing.

If you make it a hover unit, the unit sliding would probably be more acceptable.

OK, you guys are speaking Greek to me on this... I am going to have to look into what noodles is talking about. Not sure where the hover concept came from, but it is not a hover vehicle

Any way, I found a unit to use for my vehicle and it will solve my problem , but my new problem is that when I import the model to the vxl program its grey. It has a skin on it. I tried importing it as broken up pieces as it was made, as a group, as one solid unit with all pieces attached. I can't post a better pic right now because i haven't gotten permission to use the model yet. This is my first real attempted at creating a new vehicle.

Probably want to reduce the resolution of the conversion to voxel, it looks a little too ginormous.
