[RA1] Blank icon pack
Subject description: Sidebar icons from RA1 without text
This pack is very similar to the TD blank icons pack that I had posted ages ago, except this one does not include all icons from Red Alert. Most of them are present though, including some (if not all) icons from Aftermath. There is no text but the text area is still darkened, so generally these icons aren't supposed to be used as is, without any text (they were originally created during the making of an unofficial Russian translation of RA1).
To recreate the background that was obscure by the original icon text I used icons from German and French versions of the game, which had apparently been created from an authentic set of blank icons (as opposed to the "blank" icons in the French and German releases of C&C95). This comparison with the French and German versions revealed, among other things, that some of the original English icons in Red Alert have been edited after the text was imposed on them. Namely, the image above the text was mirrored to face the opposite direction. The Light Tank, Mammoth Tank, Artillery, Destroyer, Sandbag Wall, Ore Truck, Chrono Tank, Tesla Tank and a few other icons were edited this way. The blank icon set fixes this, meaning that the text area was also mirrored so that the integrity of each image is restored.
