How to use personal map in a Skirmish and LAN in DTA
Subject description: Don't Know How to play in the maps I created with Final Sun
Hello people. So, here is the thing. I like to create maps to play in Skirmish or in LAN with some friends.
But the thing is that I don't know how to load any of these maps and play them in Skirmish. I can play only the maps that are already in the list.
And there is a second problem. How do I play in LAN in the newest DTA version (v. 1.1228)? Is it posible to play on LAN, or I just have to play via CnCnet?
PD: Thanks for working in such a great game!
PD2: Sorry about my english. Im still learning QUICK_EDIT

Currently custom maps aren't really supported by DTA yet, but support for them will be added somewhere in spring (likely in April).
If you already want to play a custom map right now, you can do this by either replacing an existing map with it or by adding it to the MPMaps.ini file, but take in mind that if you do this, the person you're playing with will need to have the map on his computer as well and his MPMaps.ini file also needs to be identical to yours.

Currently you'll indeed have to play via CnCNet. Support for LAN games might also be added in spring, but no guarantees can be made.

You're welcome and your English is perfectly fine (as far as this post goes anyhow ). _________________ QUICK_EDIT
Ok, I understand that it is not confirmed you will add LAN multiplayer mode. But it is good for me, we still have CnCnet. Thanks again for doing this amazing work with the mod.
In the other hand, I tried adding one of my maps to the MPMaps file and also replacing one of that already exist, but it didn't work. What did I do wrong?
The extension of your map indeed needs to be .map, but you can just manually rename it from .dpr to .map yourself. Additionally you also need to add a code section for your map at the bottom of the MPMaps.ini file:
Code:
[Maps\Default\(DTA)_ZIMBRO]
Description=Your Map's Name
Author=ZIMBRO
CD=0,1,2
MinPlayers=2
MaxPlayers=8
Replace the number for MaxPlayers if your map allows fewer than 8 players.
Also, it seems you might have misunderstood something; if you're adding your map to the MPMaps.ini file, you don't need to replace any of the existing maps. You only had to do this if you weren't going to edit the MPMaps.ini file, so you're better off just changing the part of the [MultiMaps] list you edited to this:
And if you prefer, you can also change Default to something else (like Custom) and then also place your map in a directory with the same name. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
OK, so, I had a lot of work this week, so I coudln't test your suggestiones Bittah until yesterday.
It realy worked out. But, for dome reason, the AI begun to die by them selves
I played solo against 5 medium AI and 2 Hard AI, and I could only face 3 of them, cause the rest were already dead when I tried to attack them. Did they die by viceroid attacks? (I must say that my map have a lot of tiberium, so massive amount of viceroid are very usual to see)
Also, when I won, the game throwed me an error and automaticly shut down. Dunno why QUICK_EDIT
There needs to be enough free space around every starting location so that the MCV that starts there can instantly deploy without having to move first. If the AI can't immediately deploy, it won't deploy at all and if Short Game is enabled, it will then instantly die in about 30 seconds or so because it owns no structures.
When making sure there is enough free space for an MCV to deploy, you need to take in mind that the MCV doesn't start exactly on the starting location, but always on one of the cells next to it. So of the cells that surround the starting location, you need to keep at least a 5x5 foundation free.
I can't say what caused the error when you won however. Maybe it was just a one-time thing; if not, please upload the except.txt and DTA.LOG files here right after the error has happened. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
