Nothing, it is vanilla rebranded.

I'm not sure how to answer your question. Are you asking what is literally new, like units etc? If so then just read the news post and look on the website or try playing it. If you've played vanilla at all you will see the difference.

Or are you asking what is fundamentally different and new about this mod that makes it's existence worthwhile? Here I can only say it is my version of RA2YR. Under the hood every single unit, structure and weapon has been been overhauled. The balance of the mod is completely different to vanilla, whether it plays differently or not. The vehicle set is almost entirely new with several additional infantry and structures too.

The main idea behind my balancing originally was to create a kind of soft hard-counter feel. Some RTS games have hard counters where only the right counter will deal significant damage to the right target, but otherwise would be useless. I wanted to keep the C&C feel though, like having basic infantry able to take down a Power Plant, so merged the two. Here most everything will deal OK damage vs other targets but will be super effective against the right target, such as Tesla Troopers ripping apart Liberty Tanks in a couple of hits. This IMO creates a nice balance that isn't unforgiving but does award players for having the best units.

I wasn't attempting to just improve YR or RA2 gameplay but remake it my own way. Removing Yuri just felt more doable for me which is why his faction is gone. Even in fact the AI was completely built from scratch. It's not the best AI but it was fun to do and an interesting challenge.
