Hi again,

I used to be able to do this in Red Alert 2. I select the multiplayer map in Skirmish on Tiberian Sun, then as soon as the game loads, you already have units/buildings available for example.

How do I achieve this in FinalSun when creating a map? I'm currently in the middle of attempting a comp-stomp map but I want to give the players who spawn at certain areas (in my map these areas are pre-made bases) the buildings that are already there (such as gates).

Many thanks to who can give an easy to follow guide. Smile

When using vanilla TS, the only way to do this is by using GDI and Nod as the owners of those pre-placed units and then having the human players select GDI and Nod (along with Gold and Red) when they play that map.

If you download the CnCNet TS package, you can achieve what you want more easily, although you'll then only be able to properly play your map when you start it via included CnCNet client.

So if you decide to do the latter, you'll first have to open your map in notepad and add the following code:
Code:
[Houses]
0=Neutral
1=Special
2=Spawn1
3=Spawn2
4=Spawn3
5=Spawn4
6=Spawn5
7=Spawn6
8=Spawn7
9=Spawn8

This will make it possible to select the necessary houses while editing your map in FinalSun, but make sure you remove this code from your map again once you're done.

So now simply assign Spawn1 as the owner of all units and structures that you want to belong to the player that starts at waypoint 0, Spawn2 for the player that starts at waypoint 1, Spawn3 for the player that starts at waypoint 2 and so on.

Once you're done, save your map, remove the code that you added earlier from your map again with notepad, place your map in the "\Maps\Custom\" directory of the CnCNet TS package that you extracted earlier and play your map via the TS CnCNet client (cncnet5.exe).

Hi, I just did what you said, I selected GDI and Gold but the items simply didn't appear in game. Any ideas? I only plan on using the standard game.

Using GDI and Nod only works online, I'm afraid. If you also intend to use this method for skirmish, you're better off using the other method I suggested.

Once you've assigned the Spawn# houses to all of the units and structures that you want to belong to the players on your map and after you've removed the [Houses] code from your map again, you start the client via cncnet5.exe and then play Skirmish by selecting Skirmish in the small dialog that appears and then clicking Login.

Thanks so far. I am loading Skirmish through CnCNet but it's not finding my map?

Another question, how do I add it so the 3rd player (hard AI, Nod) gets the units on an online/skirmish game?

If you're using the Spawn# houses for these units, just make sure you specify the same Spawn# house for all of these units.
If you're using Spawn3 for example, you need to select 3 under "Start" in the TS CnCNet client.

Take in mind that although the Spawn# house numbers correspond with the selectable numbers under "Start" in the client, the Spawn# houses start counting from 1, while the waypoints that specify the starting locations start counting from 0.
This means that the player that starts at waypoint 0 will get the units that were assigned to Spawn1, the player that starts at waypoint 1 gets the units that were assigned Spawn2, the player that starts at waypoint 2 gets the units assigned to Spawn3 and so on.

I've downloaded the CnC Net5 Client but I'm confused on how to do what you are saying.

I've installed it and am able to play online but how do I add the houses and such in FinalSun?

Another problem is happening. I am doing everything you say correctly but when I load the game up through CnCNet and load a skirmish, If I do not set GDI and Nod AI to spawn at locations 2 and 3, and have me at 1, the game crashes.

I want AI to be at 2 and 3, 3 mainly as 2 will be a player ideally but AI is ok too.

None of the units are going to team 3 at spawn 3 on the map. If I go to spawn 3, it just gives me whatever units are assigned to Nod or GDI at positions 1 and 2.

Could you upload the map so that I can take a look at it?

Either upload it here or upload it in a personal message. To do this you either click the "New reply" button or the "pm" button under one of my my posts, then click the browse button near the bottom of the screen, select your file and finally click Add Attachment.
