Tiberium & Ore
Does the "Replace Ore with Tiberium" also get rid of tiberium damage to foot soldiers? _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!
Sorry, I post a message with a similar topic. My post was this, and is in the line of the colleague that create this post:
Hi everyone,
I'm running the last version of this awesome mod, but when I try to change tiberium for ore, to play red alert, in the skirmish maps still appears the green and blue tiberium.
Another thing that I notice is when I'm playing in a map, I don't see the gems that appear in the original red alert.
The option only replaces green tiberium (and green tiberium trees) with ore. It appears that the ore which the tiberium gets replaced with on temperate maps is currently using wrong colors however, so thanks for pointing that out; it'll be fixed soon. After enabling the option, the tiberium on the map preview images will still look like tiberium, but it'll have become ore after starting a game on the map.
Gems were only recently added to the mod and they can only be seen on maps the maps they've been placed on (out of the multiplayer maps, that's currently only "Arctic Circle"). Although it is indeed possible for me to also make this option replace blue tiberium with gems, I'm not entirely sure whether this is really wanted; blue tiberium also has tiberium trees that spawn it after all, while there's nothing in RA that spreads gems and the gems aren't even supposed to spread by themselves.
You have to take in mind that this option only changes the appearance of tiberium, without actually changing its behavior (so it'll still be harmful to infantry and it'll spread at the same rate as the tiberium does).
In any case, I'd like to hear your opinion and suggestions on the matter (and that of other RA fans as well).

Yes, I mean this option...How I can know which maps has real ore, as you said in your post?
With the option enabled there is indeed no way to keep tiberium that looks like ore apart from real ore when playing a map, although you can still tell which maps have real ore by chacking the map preview images. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
To be honest I was actually considering that until danimadrid posted; until then I actually figured that barely anyone really used the option.
Right now very few maps make use of the ore (3 in total) however and even fewer maps (2 in total) make use of the gems (although meteors are able to occasionally spawn green and blue gems).
So with that in mind, I think I'll just keep the option as it is for now (unless people request for me to change it somehow; like having it also replace blue tiberium with gems, despite the drawbacks) and I'll get rid of the option once a decent number of maps with ore have been added. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
once you have enough maps with Ore, the launcher should get a map filter combobox with the options
-all maps
-TD maps
-RA maps
which simply filters the visible maps in the list and allows you to show maps with tiberium, ore or all maps. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
I don't mind either, but the filter would allow those die-hard RA fans and "Replace Ore with Tiberium" users to find the RA maps easier.

Another idea would be, to put a "Switch Tiberium and Ore" checkbox into the multiplayer menu of the launcher.
When enabled, the launcher simply adds the necessary ini lines to the spawner map to switch the images of Ore and Tiberium
e.g.
[TIB01]
Image=ORE01
I suppose that would indeed be better. This way it'll at least also be possible to disable damage for the tiberium that gets switched to ore or gems.
Such an option can't be added until Rampastring finishes the new client however (which won't be at until somewhere this winter). _________________ QUICK_EDIT
I don't know why you'd want that option at all. Surely if you have the ability to have Ore and Tib on the same map just have that, otherwise it's just confusing. QUICK_EDIT
Like LKO mentioned, it's pretty much just to appease the die-hard fans; I personally don't care much for the option either. _________________ Last edited by Bittah Commander on Thu Jul 10, 2014 8:47 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT

I just stick to tiberium, because if its going to damage your infantry, well then its gonna damage your infantry. _________________ Destroy to create. All for the hunt to dominate!
I don't think that there's enough TD and RA fanatics who'd really want to severely limit their map selection just because of what the map's resources look like. In other words, there's not enough demand for the feature for me to implement it. You really get more out of the mod if you just learn to enjoy and collect both tiberium and ore; in the future we'll likely be seeing more maps with both resources anyway. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
not limiting, enhancing.
The checkbox switches the images of the tiberiums when enabled (a simple ini change added to the maps code as written in my post above)
This way every map can be instantly played in 2 different versions, without having to create special versions of the maps.
On maps with both resources, the checkbox would just switch them. So no problem there either. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings
