I am currently using Aqrit's ddwrapper when playing Red alert 2 and Yuris Revange to remove the screen tearing while playing but If i download a Mod that uses the Ares.DLL such as Mental Omega i will be unable to play the Mod without screen tearing as the game will not use my ddwrapper's ddraw.dll and use the Ares.DLL instead.

Ares does not mess with other dlls in the game folder. I don't know this dll in particular, but if it is a normal dll and not a dll for Syringe like Ares, then there should be no problem. I'm not sure whether MO moves the file out of the folder when launching the game, though.

That direct draw emulation dll likely may not work too well with ARES graphics surface defaults instead of the assumed case of the dll not being used unless launcher indeed removes it which should be apparent in folder.

Especially if it required the backbuffer/vram thing back to work which is normally system memory controlled now in ARES AFAIK but messing with the controls may help.

The launcher does not remove said dll, and the DirectDraw override in Ares can't be controlled since 0.2.

Did you tried without that ddraw while running an Ares mod? I can imagine that the wrapper causes tearing due to overriding an override already.

Tried running Mental Omega with just Ares and removed the ddraw but i still get screen tearing. any idea how to fix it.?

I am using windows 7 with amd catalyst 14.9

I tried to force the Directdraw refresh rate to 60 using the DirectX SDK dxcpl but i cant seem to stop the tearing when scrolling around the map. Also removing Directdraw accleration results and a black screen when lunching the game
