Can't run the game
Subject description: problem, strange...
Hello there, I would really like to play the mod , but something still goes wrong...
I have downloaded the game by the launcher, seems like everything is fine ( musics downloaded and videos too.
Launcher works fine, I run the DTA.exe to run the game, then i thick the SKIRMISH option and I am able to set up here everything , BUT when I try to launch the game, the main screen goes to the startbar and that's all - nothing goes on more. Just my desktop screen.
Any ideas ?
I am on Win 10, frameworks installed etc.
Which options for graphics should I choose ? windowed mode ? compatibility mode ? I tried few options already, but don't know if I am forced to enable few of them at the same time, and if so, which ones...
oh god, win10. I doubt anyone has that OS and tested already DTA on it. Thus i doubt anyone can give any help/support for this.
Since win8 was already a pain to get the TS engine running, i wouldn't wonder if win10 is entirely unable to play such old engines.

My only suggestion: get a win7 PC.
Then You are probably wrong no offense of course.
I don't meet any problems with running the old games , for ex. like Tiberian Dawn , red alert 1 & 2 , or others.
I am feeling that I may run it the same way as the users of win 8 , don't know how about 7.
When You are trying to run it at win 7/win 8 , then You are forced to run it with which dependings ? QUICK_EDIT
I doubt anyone of us/the staff has that OS and tested already DTA on it.
fixed. sorry. meant it from the staff point of view, since we tested the mod before the release, but not on win10.
for win8 it helps trying the different renderer in the options menu.
IE-DDRAW
TS-DDRAW
not sure which one is working since i'm on XP and win7 machines, for which the Default is already working.
But seeing that win10 misses some 16bit desktop dlls, i'm not sure if the renderer options help. Since they are enabling some special ddraw.dll's for the game, they might not be compatible with win10. No clue how win10 handles special direct draw dlls. _________________ SHP Artist of Twisted Insurrection: Nod buildings

Considering what I've heard of Win10... I detect an awesome OS on the horizon.
Yes, I just said that.
I'd rename that DESKCP16.dll - never seen such a file in my C&C dirs.
Win7 x86 didn't needed wacky stuff and ran out of the box. Win8 demands TS-DDRAW as renderer.
Update: I am mixing the dlls. IE-DDRAW needs windowed mode. _________________ "If you didn't get angry and mad and frustrated, that means you don't care about the end result, and are doing something wrong." - Greg Kroah-Hartman

It starts, ( no compat. mode , only administrator mode ) , BUT when I just move the cursor the game stops for that moment, for example when I move my mouse continously - game is totally stopped. After that I dont move my mouse, game just work like a charm...

Any solution ?
Go to options, select "TS-DDRAW" from the Renderer menu and save the settings. If it still doesn't work, post back and tell your system specs (especially your graphics cards). The TS engine is known to have issues with Intel integrated graphics.
We indeed cannot provide support for Windows 10 because no one on our staff runs it. If you get the game working on Windows 10, that's nice, but if you can't get it to work, we won't be able to help you with it yet.

Thanks to hifi's TS-DDRAW Windows 8(.1) actually runs the game nicely. Compared to XP and 7 there is a small amount of noticeable microstuttering, but it's so insignificant that you don't generally pay attention to it while playing. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
Could you try removing wsock32.dll and see if the game runs on Windows 10 then? I've heard that RA1 also won't run when that file is present, but mind that you won't be able to play online without it. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Man thank you so much!!! Its work!!! I have win 10//64bit works perfectly! QUICK_EDIT
It seems confirmed that the CnCNet wsock32.dll is causing the issue on Windows 10. We'll be including a fixed version of that DLL when the CnCNet developers (hifi) update it. In the meanwhile it's possible to play the game by removing the DLL, but multiplayer won't work. _________________ CnCNet Client | CnCNet TS patches | More Quality-of-Life Improvements for RA Remastered
I've got the very same problems as described in the first post of this thread, when I try to run the game in fullscreen mode.
And I'm running Win 7 64.
Two of my mates tried it as well, both also running on win 7, and had the very same issue.
On my own machine (haven't tried on the others) I was able to fix it temporarily (but reproduceable) by this procedure:
Start the game in TS-Render Mode. (This mode doesn't work very well for me, I always have to restart the session to even make my mouse working. And then it keeps freezing for several seconds everytime I enter the menu.).
Once I've done that, I quit the game, restart it and switch back to default render again.
I can then play the game with the default render, without any problems. I can also quit the game and restart it and still won't get any problems.
The issue however is back as soon as I reboot my computer.
I think an Nvidia driver update messed up TS and RA2. Recently mine have started having problems similar to Win8 users where menu items graphics fail to load or update properly and it's fixed somewhat in windowed mode.
I'm on Win7 64bit and have had no issues until recently, I'm presuming it was the graphics driver updates. QUICK_EDIT
I just updated my Nvidia drivers to confirm this (I'm also on Win7 64bit) and it appears I'm getting horrible performance now as well. Scrolling arround lags horribly and when I'm not scrolling, the game freezes for 2 seconds or so after every so many seconds. Additionally the ingame menus also lag horribly and are completely invisible until I click a button.
Placing Aqrit's ddraw.dll file from the topic I linked to in the game dir improves the performance, but I still get much better performance by changing the renderer from Default to TS-DDRAW instead. _________________ QUICK_EDIT
So it's an Nvidia driver issue. I recommend contacting their customer support informing them about a bug in the drivers. In the meanwhile downgrading drivers or using different renderers (including TS-DDRAW and the one Bittah linked to in his earlier post) might improve the situation.
