This is probably a very amateur-ish question, but please bear with me, I've never worked with voxels beyond modifying a few pixels. I'm guessing this is something about the .hva, which I've never meddled with.

So, I've been trying to replace the Apocalypse tank's twin barrel with artybarl (which is still in RA2's local.mix). To do that, I simply extracted artybarl.vxl and saved it in the RA2 folder under the name mtnkbarl.vxl.

Now, in-game, the barrel seems oddly misplaced on the turret, jutting out of the turret in weird places and, when viewed from the side, moved too far "out of the screen"/towards the viewer, as if not placed in the center of the turret, but rather installed on the side, or wherever. The actual placement of the barrel seems to change in odd ways depending on the angle it is viewed from. This is all very similar to a wrong TurretOffsetX/Y/ZAdjust on buildings, but vehicles do not have TurretOffset tags and I'm not sure those tags even exist for barrels at all, so how do I solve this? The problem remains if I use artybarl.hva for it, too. I'm sure this is a common problem and there must be a well-known solution.

Use HVA editor to position the barrel.

Ah, it's the 'Offset' option... I think I'm getting it now, just needs a bit more finetuning. Thanks!

Keep in mind that unless you want to make your turrets act retarded, always position your turret's rotating structure's center to the center of the voxel (with only height being adjusted according to the chassis) and for everything else, rely upon the TurretOffset tag in artmd.

(The barrel should be adjusted relatively to the turret as well.)
