You can now set the default background colours for the 2D canvas and all 3D previews. Go to Options -> Preferences. The background colour from the 2D canvas should be located at 2D Options. The default background for all 3D previews are located in the 3D options. You can always reset to the default colour (140, 170, 235) by hitting Reset Colour.
