TiberiumSun.com is back and The DvD Wins Map Competition!
I'm happy to announce that TiberiumSun.com is online again. And, the open map competition is still running. So far, our special agents confirmed that one map was already submited, but there is no need to rush, since you have till april 1st to improve your map and send it to us. For further info, check Rules Of Open Map Competition and the FAQ.
And also, before closing down, The DvD posted the results of The Great Map Competition... and the winner is... himself, TheDvD. His map, Cracks Of Sand, has beaten RVMECH's map Psalm 23. Both maps were considered excelent and extremely detailed. Maybe you can analyse them for your world domination plans commander.... errr.. I mean, Open Map Competition plans, so you will see the kind of map that can give you victory. Both maps are already available in TiberiumSun.com's Map Downloads. That's all for now and I'll bring further news soon. QUICK_EDIT
Did not know that was my job SMIFF.
But here is what I got.......
They are both good maps, however RVMECH as tried to be blindly over ambitions, i say blindly because most of the advanced features he has tried to introduce either do not work or work incorrectly, like the ability to take over TD buildings incl the refinary and using it, however it looks absolutely ridiculous as the docking offset is not only the wrong side but tottaly wrong angle too, there are also map errors, like the ability to send units OVER tunnels, hence basically allowing them to drive back and forth over a cliff as if it wasnt there. There are however some nice features in the map, like the animated "Wake" animations and the geysers with an attached smoke/steam particle which does add a nice touch
The Dvd's map is a splendid piece of work, i found no bugs on the map (except one piece of un-merged LAT) hardly something to complain about. The lighting is great and the triggers, there is nothing too over ambitious but nothing need be, it plays well for both the player and the AI (in skirmish) If there was one complaint i would have to make about this map, it would be its symmetrical design, but as the rest of the map is designed and plays so well, it doesn't really come into the equation.
Overall RVMECH's map does seem rather rushed, due to this i gave him (and dvd) extra time to improve the map. Some bugs where fixed in RVMECH's map in this time, but as you will find when you play it, certainly not all. End result is dvd's map wins the competition but it goes without saying both maps are high quality
"tude, u might wanna put that in a word pad or something, as ive just written the summary i should have done months ago :$" QUICK_EDIT
