I have gotten an idea for an RA2 tech bulding, the Automated Extractor. This building is found in the middle of an ore field. It acts like a slave miner using small hovering extractor drones, it also slowly genarates money on its own. If posible I want it to be defended by small drones that are released to defend the base, have a AA machene gun, repair itself, and produces ore in the nearby area. To equal things out it would COST you when you capture it.

BACKGROUND: These advanced buildings were made to be activated and left alone to genarate funds, however they were abandoned after a cut in production funding. These would easealy support a base, but to bring them back to funnctonality would cost a large sum of money.

The only way that I can think of to do any of that would be to replace the Slaves with the Drones in YR.

From my present testing, I could find no way to make the miners do anything but go to the ore fields and attempt to mine - even if they don't have the capabilities to do that. I have yet to successfully get them to be anything but mindless drones.

I also wouldn't be surprised if you'd need to have an infintry style unit, but I'm not positive. However, judging from my absolute failure trying to make any sort of spawn unit that wasn't aircraft (if you know how to do it, please share), it's a good bet it's infintry only.

If you can make a non-aircraft spawn, I'd say maybe try using a building that undeploys into an immobile vehicle and have it spawn units. The other possibility is to make it so it has enslavement and spawning properties, but I'm not sure if that would work.

Enslaves= is hardcoded for mining ore and only mining ore. It only works with one infantry type.

Spawns= only works for aircraft types that have Spawned=yes set.

Well make it a refinery type structure , with an airstrike weapon, that spawns low flying..... 'hover'.... drones *shrug* i guess thats the closests you'll get,... for spawning ore check [CRYSTAL1-4] entries in the art.ini, ur gonna prolly have to give up the airstrike...tho..but just make it a refinery, since oil silos do just that, without harvesting it anyways....

he said what I wanted, but scence the spawned aircraft can only hit ground an AA gun for air defence. basicly a super-refinery that, after takeing all current funds, is totaly self suficent, to be used as a tech buldinng

Yea, I know what you wanted, but its impossible to have it excatly like that... so I just was improvisng on what we already know works and fitting it to your idea, which its a grand idea btw....

i got some suggestions...

Make the refinery "infest" the enemy unit, say if a enemy tank comes rolling by too close the refinery infests it with a terror drone...and for AA, have a SAM or Flak turret as a secondary weapon much like the Outpost. As the miners themselves give them say rhino tank cannon...thats if you feel slighly mercyful but apoc shells and mammoth tusks prolly will make sure the enemy doesnt mess with your tech miner.

Also theres the chance of ore running out, it would be easy if it can gain oil silo properties after gaining an elite or veteran status but i doubt that possible so...still nothings perfect

by changeing the line "UndeploysInto=SMIN" to ";UndeploysInto=SMIN"
and it appears that the enslaves code automaticly causes this selling when combined with resource gatering, because there are no other lines that state how far it serches for ore
also I could use a better slaved unit, the current one is a single terror drone frame moving over the field
