A long time ago I forgot where I heard about it but Weswood apparently used Lightwave 3D for a lot of their 3D work around the time Tiberian Sun was made. There was also talk of them migrating to Maya. The first 3D program I learned to use besides one other program which was on a crappy apple PC like 17 years ago was Lightwave 3D. I learned to do everything in Lightwave but taught myself modeling and unwrapping in 3D's Max. Although I highly prefer the modelnig and unwrapping tools in 3D's Max I ended up still doing all my rigging and animating and rendering in Lightwave. I just find lightwave to be great for 3D Animation because it feels VERY bare bones. i cant imagine using Maya or 3D's Max for rendering and animating but then again I never learned to. So whenever I did 3D work I'd always model and unwrap in 3D's Max then do the rest in Lightwave. How do you guys feel about that? Am I crazy? Also, the modelnig and unwrapping in lightwave is kinda cool and easy too just like the animation portion of the program but soem of the tools are just WEIRD. like beveling in lightwave disconnects polygons and bevels them inside out and all this other weird shit hard to explain. 3Ds max didnt do that crazy crap.
