I have found a shp that I would like to use in my RA2 mod. Unfortunately, it is using the TS anim palet.

This post by Nyerguds 3 years ago seems to be about converting SHP and I have been following the instructions to attempt a conversion.

https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=2157.0

Are these steps even meant for shp conversion? Confused

Well, if they are, I have tons of questions about those steps, detailed below. If they aren't, I'd appreciate if someone could show me the correct way to convert a SHP.

Step 1: not a problem, I've found the purple palettes.
Step 2: not a problem, I can find the pallete mix in XCC.
Step 3: confused... since I'm converting TS to RA2, should I be using tsprconv.pal?
Step 4: not a problem, I get a number of frames as separate PNGs in some folder successfully.
Step 5: confused again... what exactly should I edit? It is an animation so I don't care about player colors. Nyerguds added that opening the frame in MS Paint and re-saving can also do the trick. So I did that instead.
Step 6: merged with step 5 as I'm using the MS Paint way.
Step 7: not a problem

So I ended up with a SHP that looks like a mess both in TS anim pallete and the RA2 anim pallete, meaning that the conversion is completely screwed up. Confused

-start SHP Builder
-load the SHP
-select TS Anim.pal (or another pal, so the shp is shown in the right colors)
-press alt+a (or go to tools/Drawing/Color Replace) to open the color replace window
-select "palette conversion" on the 3 radio buttons
-click Browse and select the RA2 anim.pal
-select "Apply to all frames" down in the color replacement range
-press OK
-press ctrl+a and save it under a new name or crtl+s to save right away

Ah thanks. So there is an easier way.

Got it converted to RA2 anim pallete. Though there are some black (dark blue) dots littered around.

Presumably, the only way is to use replace color to replace each of the weird colors with the closest color in the new pallete?

EDIT: added converted shp.

No, you have to make sure that before you do this conversion, Options->SHP Type is on Animation (game doesn't matter).

During colorreplacing, SHP Builder automaticaly tries to convert nonremap colors to remap (or vice versa, notsure by now) if the type supports remap (building (animation)/unit), which causes those odd pixels.

Actually, I did. I have tried both Tiberian Sun > Animation and Red Alert 2 > Animation. Doesn't seem to do anything... Confused
