I wanted to use OmegaBolt's tmperate terrain but now my terrain in FA2 is screwed up! I also extracted the palette from the MIX but FA2 still doesnt read it.

Put the palette into an expandXX.mix and named correctly isotem.pal ... I'm pretty sure FA2 doesn't read loose palettes?

It is in there by default and it is named isotem.pal. Otherwise RA2 wouldn't read it.

FinalAlert only reads palettes from their original locations, not expandmd etc. mixes.

what that basically means (as OmegaBolt said in the original thread) is that you need to put it inside the game's original mix files. This shouldn't be a problem since it's only needed for creating maps, and isn't required for using those maps.

The mix in question is cache.mix inside ra2.mix

Just make sure to back up ra2.mix before modifying it.

It can read cache.mix from the folder though IIRC.
