As the Guardians distanced themselves from whatever is left of modern civilization, they were able to rebuild themselves as a thriving primitive tribal society, with only a fraction of them still tech-savvy enough to operate machinery. This is best exemplified by Spirits, tribal warriors tasked with guarding the outskirts of the Sanctuaries. Dressed in rags or animal hide and armed with bows and arrows, they look straight out of primitives times. About the most modern thing about them is that their arrows have explosive tips, making for surprisingly potent anti-tank weapons. While not having the range or damage output of a Hellfire's missile launcher, they are able to fire off their arrows more rapidly. The bow's durable construct, combined with their impressive aim and strength to fire arrows at great distances enable them to shoot down aerial targets with frightening efficiency.
