It goes without saying that one of the most jarring aspects of the mod is the damn tiberium!

Efforts are underway in order to replace the green tiberium with gold ore, and the blue tiberium with gems.

Obviously there is more to it then just that, so in addition RA2 ore refineries for both the Allies and Soviets have also been added, along with basic animations!

Since this is a mod that picks units and structures from all the games in the Rd alert series, the fact that the Allies are using the RA1 Ore truck presents an interesting conundrum (along with the very visible Ore dump area of both the Allied and Soviet Refineries).

The simplest thing to do is what EA did with the tiberium in C&C3, completely ignore any tiberium that is not green when it comes to harvesting (and other interaction, except for destruction).
This is something you quickly get used to in C&C3, but I feel with an open carry Ore truck, it would get very jarring (especially if you account for how different Ore and Gems look).

I have looked to implement the most basic of solutions. My solution is a 0 step solution. What I mean by that is that the visible harvesting effects will either be Ore or Gems, there is no in-between that will be shown.
A 1 step solution with have either pure Ore, pure Gems, or a 50\50 mix (an intermediary step when going from Ore to Gems).

Please understand that there is still more to do (hence WIP status), however the images below should give you basic idea.

Hey, nice to see more updates on the way!

I guess first you might even adopt a 0 step solution with only Ore on the next release(if a 1 step solution becomes troublesome) as Tiberium is quite annoying. I don't think people would notice it or be bothered by it as much as by Tiberium.

On a side note, I think that there should be some difference between harvesters: The Allied Ore Truck would carry like 10% or 20% more ore/gems and move faster than the Soviet War Miner, but the War Miner would have considerably more armor (and of course the Machine Gun).

And probably, instead of Ore Truck call it Supply Truck (since it gathers Gems as well not only ore).

P.S. What other changes are you considering for the next release? Tesla Tank, Ore - what else?

I might as well leave the name of the Ore truck the same as it was in RA1. I do get what you mean though!

In terms of talking about major differences between harvesting loads, and\or harvesting move speeds, it is very difficult to balance that kind of thing, I would rather leave it for at least release 7.

I am currently looking at some of the items from older releases, so I am not currently working on anything new.

Well, in RA1 the Ore Truck was filled with a very dark material that didn't look like ore nor gems. It looked more like coal. I suppose you could do the same here.

If you need an explanation for it, you could say it looks like that because it's composed of mostly the dark soil that was scooped up along with the ore/gems.

That would certainly be one way of avoiding a lot of headaches!

I will see how this current method works out during the stress testing phase.
