Hey there, I didn't find the best place to post this topic, so I thought this would be the best place. So does anyone know if Machine the "Rise of Omnius" project
leader is still a around, or if there's someone that I could talk about "Rise of Omnius"? Just because I got a small idea for the fate of the inactive project. If someone knows let me know!  Very Happy

i haven't seen Machine here for quite a long time, but upon checking the mod, i noticed i still have Staff Forum access.
Checking the Staff forum there are only a few other familiar names left active on PPM. Orac, CCHyper and Team Black.

I see LKO, actually I wanted to see if is there some staff that worked on the mod around, since I would like to pick the mod up under my name or responsability, to see if I get an authorization, and become the mod resurrector. Bringing it back from the dead. And hopefully getting my hand on the resources to keep going, and hopefully get part of the team together atleast. To move forward. Since for me Rise of Omnius always looked promising!

I think the only one who can give you the access rights is Banshee now, as no one of the Staff is active in this mod nor has anyone of them a leading role i think.

Was there really anything finished apart from a few mechs?
I could only find very few screenshots of new ingame assets.

I never thought I'd hear about that mod again.

I think I can speak for Machine, if you want to pick up that mod and run it forward, he'd probably be ok with it.
Everything I made for that mod has been released to the public

That would be helpful Team Black, I would like to take over the mod. Because I have a felling that I can do something about it, specially now that we have Ares... So if you can I would appreciate that! Also like to know the links for the resources (Though I found some already) Yes I saw mechs only aswell LKO but atleast is a starting point, And I just saw a few the mechs as .shp around though (maybe just one or two). I do have some resources that can actually fit in the mod if I get authorized to take over. So I would love to make it happen. With a few changes here and there but faithful to the original project. Thanks in advance.

As one of the last active members of the mod, I think I have the right to ask Banshee to grant you access to the TS: RO Staff forums both here and on Tiberiumweb

No guarantees on what weird stuff you'll find in there #Tongue
Me, Aro, Machine, Corsair, CCHyper, Creagor, and some others made for a pretty fun team.
When Machine left, TS: RO stopped, then Aro and I started Twisted Insurrection and the rest is history.

I just checked and confirmed the TS:RO FTP is still up and running, to include assets, maps, a build, executable, and some other fuddy duddies.
If I can answer any questions for you, just let me know. Best of luck!

I have just taken a look at the TS: RO staff forums in order to remember who were the staff there, their roles and how things stopped. As far as I understood, it seemed to be some sort of consensus 10 years ago (approximately) of the remaining staff to transfer the assets to another mod (like TI) or get a new leader, since Machine did really abandon the mod.

I feel somewhat uncomfortable to simply transfer the mod like TS:RO to someone without having a clue of the views of this person for the mod and what kind of vision that this person has for it.

What do you understand of TS:RO and what kind of plans do you have for it, warlock?

Well Team Black I'm sure that I would enjoy be part of the team and share my ideas and concepts with you all, I already wrote down a few things that I had in mind for the mod!

For Banshee:

I understand that RO was supposed to give a new way to play TS with a few different mechanics from the original TS, also I know that the storyline happens after the Firestorm Crisis from TS, there is an evolution in the factions, and there's a appearance of a so called New Messiah that will be a replacement for Kane, technology evolved, GDI became a spacefarer faction, but not much details about NOD, but by what I got, they kept going with the Cyborg project or the new human evolution affected by Tiberium. I checked the forums, here from Rise of Omnius, ofcourse I want to go in depth about what are origins and backstory. I know a bit of coding but i'm awful coding AI, but I think i'm alright with coding factions, sides, buildings and units, I'm not the best at voxels and .shp's but I can do a decent job with maps. My plan is bring TS:RO to Red Alert 2 Ares, using some bases from other mods that I was allowed to use terrain from Reign of Steel and the old ReWire releases for Red Alert 2, I got authorization from gangster to use some the terrain and some of the assets, long time ago. I already got some resources has I said, and I always wanted to create a mod based on TS for RA2, but I never was successful, because I was alone, and I stepped away for a while, now I do have a bit more knowledge about modding and finally some free time and decided to return after a few years. My plan is recreate the mod in RA2 and add also some new things, like expand the storyline, "upgrade" graphics and above all bring back a mod that was loved by the community. I don't promise that will be an amazing mod since my experience is not as much as the original creator, but I will try my best to keep quality. And I think with some help Rise of Omnius can become something. Also I have some plans for videos in live action since I have some friends that can help me out to give a professional touch (I know sound quite ambitious). I don't know if this is what you where expecting Banshee. But what I wrote here is absolute honesty. RoO assets were made for TS and thus scaled for TS. I doubt they look good in RA2. Or what once was a big impressive mech is now a medium ordinary unit among huge RA2 assets.
Upscaling SHPs never looked really good.

So porting RoO over to RA2 surely makes all RoO assets obsolete or only an insignificant part.

I don't remember plans for the story or what Machine's goals for RoO were. So I can't tell if your plans match with what RoO was supposed to be.


However despite this, i think any progress is better than keeping the abandoned mod lying useless around.
Thus I wouldn't mind if you take over RoO.

As a first step after taking it over, i would like to see you compile an overview of what was actually done. A screenshot of all the assets that come with it.
I have no clue how far Machine got and in the end it may be only a handful of SHPs and we make a big fuss over a mod that might have only very few things done.

In my honest opinion I think we should leave this project as it stands out of respect to Machine.

But I don't see why warlock can not take what is the current state of the project and port it over to RA2/YR, or even OpenRA. It would be great to see someone take over this project and what nice upgrades could be done in another engine.

That being said, I don't think handing over FTP and staff access is a good idea, but perhaps one of the remaining staff such as TeamBlack could collect all the resources warlock requires for his port of the mod.

Thanks LKO, that means a lot... I know resize the assets look a bit off, but i have got some Lost Relic assets that I resized with GIMP/Photoshop and actually looks pretty decent, can be looked over, and they work. But if I get the hand on the 3D models maybe I can rescale them in 3D Studio Max, but not sure if they exist. though some of the .shp files have a decent size that actually work with RA2YR scale. tho I have a few resources that SCIPION shared with me and the actually work, I don't know if most of you checked my "prototype" page from a old mod that I was working on and you can se that same assets. Of course will take some work, but I feel bad to see RoO dead since looked so amazing for me when I saw it the first time, about 10yrs ago. A now is just there you know... So I want to bring back, in respect of Machine and all the hard work he had. And I do believe I can do something about Rise of Omnius.

And all the others thanks for the encouragement! I appreciate it, that means a lot to me, hopefully I will bring it back and give a treatment to the old mod! About Team Black idea that would be helpful, if he wouldn't mind to do it. Since I just found a few resources laying around on PPM, and no maps or terrain (though is not a big deal).
