Project Perfect Forums Announced!

Very recently, the idea for Project Perfect Forums has been released to the public. The site will be up shortly. And for those of you thinking that we are ripping off PPM, we are infact designing the forums in co-operation with PPM. Any ideas as to features that should be included are welcome. Currently, PPF is in the design stages and have the following features planned:

- Usergroups
- Split threads
- Merge threads
- Be able to disable board
- Topic start notification
- New emoticons
- Member rating system (reverse warning system)
- Built in cash mod (small amount * user rating per post)
- Personal avatar gallery (admin option to turn off)
- Favorites list (user can select favorite forums and those display as default on index, admin option to turn off)
- Personal notepad
- Admin notepad
- 'Suspended' user group that can only view forums for suspended users
- PM ignore list
- Post reporting system
- Warn challenge system (only mod that modded post or admin can override action)
- Polls (admin option to turn off)
- Subforums
- Attachments

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Please help to make PPF the best forums script ever.

PPF is a project to make forums that are better than IPB, phpBB, and vB.

I like the rating stuff, it would, for example, GREATLY!! enhance Tumsun's fight against spammers..

help the people taht use forums not just make em with what we think they need, we want to know what people want/need in forums.

As I said, make user rating start at 1, so it can be both positive and negative.. so stoopid spammers will get their cash taken away for posting #Tongue

UPDATE: 3 functions have been coded completely so far, the Bank, such as collecting interest, transferring money, etc., the Store, such as buying items, selling items, etc., and the login process.

I am currently coding the signup process.

That's the idea, yes.

I coded a function to check if an e-mail address is valid.

I think it works for all normal e-mail addresses. I tested it with quite a few variations.

It isn't compatible with e-mail addresses that have quoted strings in them, but I don't ever remember someone using an address like that anyway.

Yes, Kravvitz has helped twice with the forums #Tongue

. And I do have an option for people to turn that function off if they want too. Just in case there is a problem with it for one reason or another.

a few ideas you might or might not like..

be able to ignore certain users threads comepltly..

a very easily managed skinning system..

i would suggest useing vB's idea for skinning tho, have the files on the server that you edit, but also have parts you have to edit through the board itself..so you odn't have a million pages opened on the ftp server client your useing (since in the past cuteftp pro has been known to fail me)

Also, with the rating system, maybe have it where if your under a certain rank you can't post in certain forums..like the autogroup mod in phpBB....

Also have a word filter on it obviously..but make it where users can either choose to use it or not use it, and build one hell of a list up for the word filter for when people first get it, and have them be able to remove or add the words at there leisure...

Also when removing the words or smilies or anything like that where there is a mass of stuff you may want to remove, make it where people can check each one they want to remove then hit remove so they are not hitting a remove button for each one over and over again for a fricken hour..

quick reply was always my friend, maybe make that built in and where people can also either disable or enable it at there leisure...

make it where people can use the admin panel to add things on the bottom (like the toplist here at ppm) instead of having to edit the files themselves..

also one more thing i can think of is the banner, maybe allow people the chance to just replace the banner through the admin cp and to have it across the whole top instead of the small thing like in the subsilver template of phpBB...

if that makes since...

also if your one that wants tog et ideas that have and are still working for other boards why not jack some ideas from http://www.thebearspot.com/ <<very good for people who want to show off there boards and ask questions about making them...

As a side note, will it be hosted here on ppm, or do you need a host?
