I was asked to upgrade a certain forum, and special requirements are:
- full support for topic threading (Revora has something like it, but I need a different style threading, like in this thread [nevermind the non-english content]. That means the whole thread is displayed at once, with each post indented by a certain amount, depending on it's thread depth. (an option for every user to set how strongly they want it to indent would be nice) )
- full support for non-english character sets.
- an option to disable graphical bells and whistles (avatars, extra smilies, user information under avatar, ...) , turning it into somewhat text-based thing, like that thread is. Preferably per-user setting.

I really like IPB for it's professional feel, but it does not have these features (except maybe lofi version = no bells and whistles) Sad So, does anybody have any suggestions of a forum software that meets these needs? Or perhaps are able to make such modifications to IPB?
Thanks in advance Wink

Bulleten board is like that, layed out like that, mesages under messages, generaly looking crap. Forums are like this, good interface, layed out in threads and forums.

People there are used to such minimalistic interface, and they like it. They just want it to be updated with stuff like IPB's mod/admin CP (warning system, warn logs, etc) and more features that other forums have. The biggest problem is that the board now runs on mwForum, which is written in Perl, not PHP, so code cannot be simply "borrowed". And there are not many perl-enthusiasts visiting there who are able to improve it.
