Subject description: I got new structures to work!

After an entire day of trying to create a new structure in TD (without modifying an existing one) I finally got the game to run and to let me build the new structure!

The problem I’m running into now, is that the structure is invisible and untargetable. I’ve narrowed down the issue to being the fact that I would have to add new sprites to the structure. I have the assists, but no way to tell the game to use them.

The nuke tank mod comes with TD_Units in the Tileset folder which lists all sprites for all vehicles. I have no idea how I would generate an .xml file that lists the same information for structures (or infantry).

If I create an .xml file named TD_Structures and add my custom sprites the game will crash on the loading screen to the battlefield, I’m assuming because the file is missing ALL of the structures. Anyone know how I would generate this file?

You need to download the latest version of OS Big Editor then open the config.meg file with it. All the game xml files are in there.

I do have Big Editor installed but I didn’t see that! I’ll give it a try tomorrow, thank you! Once I get the structure actually working, I plan on posting beginner tutorials since I’m also a beginner.

While I have this thread open, I’m trying to make a nuclear power plant, but I do want it to explode on destruction so that’s what I’m gonna shoot for next but I have no idea how I’ll do it. Since no building in the game actually explodes, I’m sure I’ll have to figure out some actual programming. Would you know how to go about doing that? Would it be a one time code for spawning the nuke bullet on death? Could you create some code to allow a nuke to always spawn as “crew” kinda like the engineer with a construction yard?

Sorry for being such a noob lol, I haven’t made mods since I was about 12 years old on Tiberian Sun.

So even with TD_Structures now in my mod, the game still won't let me use any custom art with my new building and I feel like I've tried everything.

Has anyone successfully put new art in this game for Structures yet? Do I need a new line of code in BuildingTypeClass::One_Time in BDATA?
