Files that changed in the remaster patch
In the new patch (Steam version at least, Origin version should be the same) the only files that changed were game binaries (including the map editor), the source code (the changes for that can be found on the EA git repo), config.meg and the texture meg files.
No other files were changed (no other meg files and none of the old game mix files in the cncdata folder)
Inside the meg files, the following changes have been made:
Various files inside DATA\ART\GUI\ have been changed (not going into details since modding the UI of the remasters isn't really a thing
Changes have also been made to the files in DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\PATCHES (these are used to apply specific fixes to the stock maps to correct tile glitches)
Changes have been made to DATA\XML\TILEPATCHES as well for those.
The various text data files (under DATA\TEXT) have changed.
The following XML files have changed:
DATA\XML\AUDIO\MUSICEVENTS.XML (changes to the music setup for the credits screens apparently)
DATA\XML\AUDIO\SFXEVENTSLOCALIZED.XML (changes the priority of certain sounds)
DATA\XML\CAMPAIGNS\CONSOLE.XML (appears to have to do with a certain mission labeled PSX_GDI_Secret, not sure what mission it is)
DATA\XML\CAMPAIGNS\CONSOLE_MISSIONS.XML (appears to have to do with a certain mission labeled PSX_GDI_Secret, not sure what mission it is)
DATA\XML\CNCRULES.XML (changes for the "hard" difficulty on TD)
DATA\XML\GAMECONSTANTS.XML (changes to some radar map constants)
DATA\XML\INSTANCES.XML (seems to change "max players" to 8 as well as another change related to the PSX_GDI_Secret mission)
DATA\XML\OBJECTS\MISC\FACTIONS.XML (adds some new factions labeled "LAN" for upcoming LAN support)
DATA\XML\OBJECTS\UNITS\RABUILDABLES.XML (fixes the build icon for the phase transport)
DATA\XML\TILESETS\COMMON_MISC.XML (adds a new "vortex" entry)
DATA\XML\TILESETS\RA_TERRAIN_SHROUD.XML (adds a new "radar-jammed" shroud entry)
DATA\XML\TILESETS\RA_VFX.XML (removes the "vortex" entry that was moved to COMMON_MISC.XML)
Also they have changed how the main graphics for things like units and structures and effects are stored. Instead of
DATA\ART\TEXTURES\SRGB\RED_ALERT\STRUCTURES\AFLD.ZIP file. The contents of these zip files are (as far as I can tell) identical to the contents of the old folders.
