Subject description: For TS & RA2
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

A small tool to resize maps of TS and RA2/YR. Prompted by shortcomings
of FinalSun/FinalAlert2 like can't resize beyond max size limitation of
these map editors, doesn't process tunnels, smudges, base nodes etc. and
doesn't cleanup well.

It runs on Windows OS with .Net 4.0.

During resize process, this tool additionally performs these tasks:
- Removes comments
- Removes duplicates, discards entries in incorrect formats
- Better compressed IsoMapPack5 section (undone by FinalSun/FinalAlert2)

Limitations:
- Preview pack/image is not updated as it needs game files for map image.
Have to use map editors or CnC Map Renderer for that.
- It isn't smart enough to check if full tunnel path goes beyond map borders.

Updated source code is included in download package. This tool uses code from OpenRA, MapTool and CnC Map Renderer.
Old Source code : https://github.com/E1Elite/MapResize

Changes:

2024-02-21 (version 1.0.4.0)
- Parsing fix: Accept square brackets in text fields.
- Typelist duplicate handling adapted for RA2/YR.
- Overlay pack encoding updated.
- Empty map pack section checks added.

2023-02-04 (version 1.0.3.0)
- Parser tweaks.

2020-11-01 (version 1.0.2.0)
- Save filename options.
- Option to change map name in [Basic] section.
- Updates to validations, log and messages.

2020-10-21 (version 1.0.1.0)
- Added option for retaining LocalSize position on non-ngative inputs.
- Few validations and log/messages.

2020-10-20 (version 1.0.0.0)
- Initial release

Are you saying this moves the smudges and base nodes according to the resize?

Yes. FA2 couldn't be patched for those shortcomings, so spent a few days on this tool.

Very nice!
Results look very promising, I might update some of my maps for extra size, but I need to test it a lot during gameplay to see if everything works fine such as waypoints, AI, triggers, etc.

I will definitely use this for future maps Smile

Also it would be nice to have checkbox to maintain LocalSize position. I know it can be done easily with text editor, but it would speed up process to have map ready for testing during mapping.

Updated download in first post.

@Tuc0: Added the maintain LocalSize position checkbox, it is only for 0 or greater values in the input fields.

Thanks alt lot, used for my Blood River map as test. Allowed me push more playable area from it.

May I have a little request? Would it be possible to add bar to set name of new map (also with prompt to confirm overwriting if map already exists)?
It would speed up map testing - TS Client needs to be restarted to refresh map list, or new map needs to be additionally renamed each time after resize.

But thanks again for the tool and hard work.
