Check these out! They're low res Jpeg, but I also have super high res versions of them that I submitted to Exposé 3. Do you think they'll get in? Wink Smile Anyway, look at them and tell me what you think!

well.......nothing special really, but a little extra work would really make the first one look better, how about something that shows that you are flexable, make something that makes people go," how did he do that?"

Looks like circle with a texture in, with another layer below for the glow surrounding the ball, with a gradient effect. Then the airbrush for stars, which looks terrible.
To do good stars, you're best off starting with some noise, and going from there. Here's an example:

Lol. Not even slightly what I did, but a kinda good try considering that you can't see the really fine details. I started off with kinda orange and grey clouds, made a new channel, and applied difference cloud filters to it until black and white were balanced. Went back to the main layer, applied spotlight lighting effects with texture as the new channel. Selected a suitable piece of rock, and made a new layer with it. And that's just the comet. The stars are not airbrushed, and are two layers. The bottom layer is pencilled, and the top layer is a blurred copy. Which would look really horrible, but I also used the new channel as a selection and deleted all the stars behind the asteroid. This also had the result of adding a cool texturing effect to the glow of the stars, which you can't see in the low resolution of the image I provided. For the glow I made a layer and applied clouds with orange and red, used a blurry copy of the texture channel to get rid of excess, and motion and radial blurred it. I then copied this layer above the asteroid, added noise, and gave it a low opacity. Also, because I thought it was a bit too soft, I selected the texture channel and deleted the selection from a copy of the glow. I put this new layer on top of everything. For the asteroid's blur, I copied it and motion blured it hugely, and put it below the actual asteroid. Then I copied it again and blurred it just a bit and put it above the asteroid layer. I think that's about it... Oh yeah, and there was also some noising on the texture channel in the beginning and on the asteroid. lo, t to be too critical, but ou can see the sides of the layers all over that pic. Where you copied a layer where the sides weren't completely transparent...

Thought it was 3D in a passing glance eh? Awesome. That's what I was trying to do.
