Hello everyone. I was trying to make building animation with different palette than YR uses. I got ARES installed. On some topic I found, that it's possible to make your own palette. So I've made building animation .shp file, and .pal file. It looks like it should in SHP Builder, but I got rainbow in game. Does anyone ever got the same problem? Any solvation? What am I doing wrong?

There is Palette=<filename> and CustomPalette=<filename> to be used in artmd.ini, not sure about the difference though, have you tried any of these?

Palette= is used on buildings/units & CustomPalette= is used on weapon animations and projectiles.

To use a new pal on a building you need to add the tag Palette=newpal (can be named anything) to the buildings art code & then create new pal files for each of the games separate map theaters. So you'd need newpaltem.pal (for temperate), newpalsno.pal (for snow), newpalurb.pal (for urban), newpaldes.pal (for desert) & newpallun.pal (for Luna).

Thanks for the reply. It's clear when it comes to buildings. The game should know that this is bulding, so you have to put its name into building list in rules.ini. But this is not a building. This is animation. Those 3 orbs are pulsing. I've made urban, snow and other palettes and use it with a building, just to test it, and the palette is working. I guess I'm missing something while creating a shp file.

Note that you only need to add Palette= to the building's art code, all animations attached to the building will then use that pal too.

Wow. That was the point. Thank you. Now it lookes like close to what it should. Still, some pixels are of the wrong color, but it lookes much better. Guess I have to play around with colors and palettes. Thank you.
