I tried recoloring the whole anim of VTEXPLOD via Photoshop. However, using anim.pal for the recolored VTEXPLOD makes the colors look crap. I tried using other palettes that are already installed on SHP Builder but none of them feels right so I decide to create a custom palette instead but I do not know how to create a custom palette for an image set/animation. Any help is appreciated and I also attached my recolored VTEXPLOD for reference.

You need Ares to use custom palette per object, otherwise you're stuck with anim.pal which is primarily focused on fire and fireball+smoke explosions.

As for making the custom palette that's a lot easier, just use your graphic editor to save as indexed (8bit) palette PNG files, and then use XCC Mixer to "Copy as PAL"... from there you can import the PNG with SHP Builder using your new palette.

Just recolour it in shp builder, press alt a and select second option, will recolour based on RGB values within the currently selected palette. If you want to make a custom palette do what GE says, but is really not needed
