Has anyone else had this issue with XCC Mixer on Windows 10? I try to drag files into a newly-created mix but nothing happens. I had to add files with XCC Mix Editor. I'm running XCC Mixer as admin.

That's most likely your problem. The File Explorer (explorer.exe), running as non-admin, cannot interact with XCC Mixer that's running as admin because that'd lead to security issues through privilege escalation.

Thanks again. I tried running explorer.exe as admin along with XCC but that didn't work either - had to run both as non-admin.

I presume you know these but some typical problems are:

  • The mix file is set to read only.
  • Another program like FA2 is accessing the mix file so it cant be edited.
  • The mix file is inside another mix file & cant be edited.

I've had this happen in Win7 too, having changed nothing Mixer would not add files to a mix, flipping admin on/off didn't fix. One solution was to keep multiple copies of Mixer, in my case the 1.46 version would still work when the 1.47 stopped working.

I never did "fix" it as much as it fixed itself over time, restarting or after enough computer usage, going to sleep and such.

Also keep in mind Windows treats certain directories with stricter permissions like anything under Program Files, so I always recommend keeping RA2 and mod stuff outside in their own, like D:\RA2 or something simple.
