Need help making Gattling Battleship.
Hey guys, Im making a new Yuri unit, the Gattling Battleship. But, I cant make 2 Gattling cannons on a ship (the ship im using is a Cruise Liner). Also, im planning that this ship will hold a Chaos fighter. Can anyone offer some help? Mainly can you help me to make 2 Gattling Cannons that may work? Im using the Voxel Selection Editor 3.
(The Chaos Fighter can be left, I can sort it out, ill somehow make it a 1 block Aicraft Carrier unit ) _________________ QUICK_EDIT
If you want the Fighter to take off like the ASW plane on the RA2 Allie destroyer, then you cannot have a rotating turret/spinning barrels anyway.
You can only have one rotating turret on a unit.
To see how to make the Gatling turret, check out the Yuri Gatling tank; also check out it's HVA (it is animated). This should show you how to set yours up so that it works too.
AFAIK, the Gatling logic only works on turrets which are not part of the main voxel body (IOW, a split turret).
Now, I'm assuming you want a single rotating turret with one or two Gatling/rotary cannons on it, mounted on a ship. Here's how to do it:
1> Load up VxlSE3, and make the ship hull. Do this as you wish, and save it.
2> Make a new voxel for the turret, and save using the correct nomenclature. (IOW, make sure it is saved as "SHIPtur.vxl", or whatever your ship is called).
3> Click on the "Section" tab, and select "New -> Section".
4> Draw a barrel in the new section. You can select which section you can edit by clicking on the drop-down menu next to the little box that appears over the palette. This way, you can switch backwards and forwards between several sections.
5> If you want a second barrel, repeat steps 3 and 4.
6> Save.
7> Choose an HVA editor that you like, and open up the turret in it.
8> Animate the turret (i.e., make the barrels spin).
9> Save the HVA as usual. Now make sure you have an HVA for the hull too.
10> Make sure you've coded the unit properly in the Rules and Art ini files, and stick the voxels inagme. It should work.
There, I hope that helps you; I rarely bother explaing something in any detail to be honest, usually preferring to tell ppl to look for themselves. In this instance though, I don't think the question had been asked before. So, although it is easy enough to do on your own, I thought I'd spell it out in case anybody else was wondering too.
