Greetings, Comrade General! Updates of Zero Hour Escalated has been shared recently by LordofTadhg. For those unaware, Zero Hour Escalated is a modification for Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour that adds features to the existing factions and several new subfactions to the battlefield. Israel and Iraq are some of these subfactions. Apparently, the author was focused on exploring the nature of one faction: Israel. However, at some point, he decided to talk a lot about Iraq in his news as well. Here is what was posted about it:

Quote:
Israel primarily relies on survivable units and strong defense. For example, the Merkava IIID & IV tanks may be given anti-missile defense systems. When these tanks are destroyed with veterancy, they will spawn two conscript riflemen.

As stated, Israel has a strong defense. However, it will require a bit of attention to truly be an asset. None of the defensive structures inherently attack ground units. The C-RAM will blast missiles/rockets and shoot at aircraft. The tank entrenchment requires the player to garrison the structure with a vehicle. Finally, the tunnel network does not have any weapons but can be upgraded to stealth.

The field hospital passively heals infantry anywhere on the map. It also allows for the purchase of upgrades that improve survivability.

Iraq will also have some changes in this next update. First off, two more units will be added to the roster.

  • Kiowa scout helicopter

  • M1A1 Abrams tank

As people played with Iraq, it became clear the faction had a weakness in stealth, especially against GLA. This is because security transport could not be purchased until the prison was built. So I added a Kiowa scout helicopter to detect stealth.

After doing more research, I discovered that the M1A1 Abrams tank was used in greater quantity by Iraq than I'd originally thought. So it is the first tank available now from the support factory. While it is heavily armored, players will realize that it is too expensive to build an army of them. The faction will still need to rely on light vehicles/infantry in the early game, supported by a tank or two. Then once the "Vladimir" T-90 tank is unlocked, the map can be flooded with cheaper yet effective tanks.

The final change is that Iraq will no longer build the supply runway./bomber More feedback concluded that it was a poor way to get resources. Instead, Iraq will build Oil Derricks that require a medium to a large amount of space to build.

Constructive feedback is always welcome! I take it seriously and even update units or remove units that aren't working. My main goal is to create factions that play differently from each other. There's plenty of work to do, and it's been a lot of fun thus far!
