Japanese soldiers don't have katana as far as I can remember. Only officers can recieve one, and it's mainly for decoration. Normal soldiers use bayonets on their rifles, the same as other armies do.

I dont plan on giving the Japanese infantry katanas, as Virgil said historically they were mainly for decoration.

In game they would be useless too as the infantry would probably die before they could get close enough to attack anything.
