hey im new to red alert 2 modding
not that im new on red alert 2 but on the modding
just curious how to apply some mods and stuff
thats my question actually im a halo modder
but red alert 2 modding sounds interesting
but  i gotta a question i got the tools
but ill figure out how to mod
but how to apply those mods you know
those mix files dont know how to handle it
or to apply it
you need a tool or something to aply mix files or something?

i did man theres nothing said how to apply mods to red alert 2 or yuri's revenge or how to install it
all got different type of maps man
like mmx mpr mix that stuff
dont understand that

To install a mod or a map, simply put the loose files into your RA2YR directory.

If the mod comes in an executable file, then drop it into the directory as before, and execute it.

That's all there is to it.

also mixes are like uncompressed Zip files they contain all of the data for graphics and sound

You probably need to patch your version of RA2YR to the latest versions then.
Version 1.06 for RA2, and Version 1.001 for YR. The patches are available off the old WW/EA website still, but are also available on many (most?) fansites.

What Ackron means BTW is that the ".mix" files are like containers - they hold loose files to keep them tidy. Unlike Zip or Rar files though, RA2YR can read the contents of a Mix file.
This means that you can just put the mix file into the directory, and RA2YR will use it. If you have a mod that is Zipped or Rar-ed, you will need to uncompress (or unzip, whatever) their contents into the RA2YR directory first.

RA2YR often gets IEs (Internal Errors). Some are bugs (like a unit getting a non-existent or conflicting weapon when it is promoted), some are hardcoded (like the MCV-Mindcontrol gug) and some are just caused by modding RA2YR - it doesn't exactly like mods! #Tongue

If you can be very specific about the error, and tell us *exactly* what was happening when the IE occured, we might be able to pin-point it for you and even tell you how to fix it (if it is possible).

but how to uninstall the mod from the game?
dont know how to do that
ive deleted some mod files
but the mod is still there

remove or rename:expand##.mix , ecache##.mix, rules.ini, art.ini, ai.ini (if applicable), or on YR they would have MD at the end (eg:expandmd04.mix)
