Metal Factions 1.98 has been released!
Subject description: Conquering the seas with Hydrobots and Hovercrafts!
Howdy! Metal Factions has been recently improved with the release of Metal Factions 1.98. For those unfamiliar with it, Metal Factions is an open-source game made with the Spring RTS game engine. It\'s an evolving real-time strategy game with four factions: Aven, Gear, Claw, and Sphere. It features 3D terrain and units, intuitive physics with real-time simulated gravity, collision handling, and projectile trajectories. It has over 400 units, including humanoid robots, tanks, ships, aircraft, buildings, defenses, etc. Here are the updates from Metal Factions 1.98:
- fixed SPHERE "Dipole" and "Cluster" are not actually draining energy to move.
- slightly increased SPHERE "Dipole" and "Atom" maneuverability.
- slightly reduced the blind spot on "Dipole" beams.
- increased GEAR "Exploder" decloak radius from 20 to 40
- Comsat stations got the reload time reduced from 180 to 30s, but stockpile scans every 180s, max three charges.
- made AVEN hovercraft turn rates more consistent (generally a bit higher)
--- UI / Visual / Sounds
- modified how shields are drawn to significantly improve performance and better compatibility with the BAR105 engine.
- added "GFX Settings: Low/Medium/High" widgets that change graphics presets.
(defaults to high)
- settings widgets override more settings that are set by other games.
- The MENU button now opens up a panel that includes buttons to change between Low/Med/High graphics presets.
- fixed grass detail setting on med/high graphics profiles
- unit icon distance threshold modifier changed from 120 to 200 on med/high graphics profiles
