i like them because they have very distinct and creative designs. they look like they have niche and specific roles and
are interesting to use ingame. the detail is focused on the shape and silhouette and not on redundant small details.
the small details they do have blend into the unit instead of stick out. they all are properly sized too. they just look like
it would be cool to build about six of them and try and micro them to full veterancy
here are the kind of voxels i dont like
i dont like them because they have the opposite of distinct and creative designs. it looks like someone went "yo dawg, i heard
you like sandwiches, so i made a quintuple hamburger cheeseburger whopper". but with a tank. they all have literally the same
shape: brick shaped. they have way too many details that somehow make them look even less distinct. its like a cacophony of
bullshit my eyes cant even process what im seeing right now. they look too obese to be micro controlled and like they would sit at
base next to the repair depot for most of the game _________________ visit my moddb profile for .shp downloads and stuff QUICK_EDIT
I understand your feelings well. I have a lot of opinions on the subject, but I'm interested to hear other people's perspectives on it. There are certain aspects I really dislike, this trend towards gigantic voxels, and there are things that just irritate me, like when someone is fighting normals.
But to your point.... I suspect a large part of the over-detailing is because people don't know how to use shape and normals to create interesting hulls, and compensate by adding junk to break up the monotony. _________________ http://www.moddb.com/mods/scorched-earth-ra2-mod-with-smart-ai QUICK_EDIT
