Hello ladies and gentlemen! A new development build of Thyme has been released recently by jonwil. This version has some bug fixes with ScienceStore, LocomotorStore, and weapon code.

For those unfamiliar with it, Thyme is an open-source re-implementation of Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. This project is a bottom-up rewrite of Generals: Zero Hour, using the original binary to provide functions that have not been implemented yet. The intention is to allow the fixing of bugs, implementation of new features, and porting to platforms unsupported by the original.

You can find more information about Thyme by visiting the Official Website, and Discord Channel. Download Thyme Here. And this is all for today! Enjoy Thyme and provide your feedback about it so it can get better.

While its great to see interest in the Thyme project, I do feel that unqualified announcements like this might generate unrealistic expectations for the project.

As it stands, the development builds that are auto generated whenever new code is merged are not really intended for casual players of the game, they may be buggy and they need injecting into the patched CD version of the game which most players probably aren't using these days.

Instead they are intended for those interested in testing the project and feeding back any bugs that are found, especially ones not found in the original version of the game.

Ultimately the hope is to produce a reimplementation of the ZH engine that can have native ports to other platforms such as linux or 64bit windows builds as well as being able to provide modders with features they can't easily add to the existing version of the game. That goal is a way off at the moment though and requires almost all of the game be reimplemented, currently we are at perhaps 50%.

TLDR; if you just want to play ZH, this project isn't for you just yet, but keep an eye on it.

That's a fair point. I will slow down the news posts on it and moderate my words to make it more clear that development is far from being stable, and tests are for those who are enthusiastic about the idea. I've seen you guys doing so much work on it that I might have overestimated its conditions.

Thanks, just don't want users piling in asking how to use it or what its supposed to do, testers who point out bugs in our reimplementation will be most welcome though. jonwil has been putting a lot of time and effort in recently which is really pushing the project along, but its massive and still has a fair way to go Very Happy
