How do I turn all the civilian units that are already placed on a pre-made map into enemies without having to select each one by one ?

You can open the map in a text editor & then use find & replace to edit the owner of units/buildings.


BTW by default you are allied with the civilian side, if you play on Free For All mode alliances are disabled though & civilians will be hostile towards the player & AI.

Which is exactly the problem with the map CITY UNDER ATTACK because regardless whether it's an AI enemy or allied, the civilian army is hostile to both sides but the enemy AI and player controlled do not fight back and the enemy AI gets destroyed in FREE FOR ALL and the game ends without you having to attack them.

The player controlled side has to target them or else your units just get shot up.

That's why I want to know how to turn all civilians on this map as enemies to both player controlled and AI enemy.

I was looking through the map triggers to see if there was some to turn already placed units, but there is nothing there and opening the map in a text editor I hit REPLACE ALL to replace all neutral with Americans.

I then realized this also turns all civilian buildings into Americans and then this will have my units attack everything on the map, which sucks.

I looked into that map & it needs Ares to work correctly. The map uses new custom Ares code that fixes the targeting issues with hostile civilian units.

Okay, so once I activate Ares, what code do I have to add either to the rules or to the map itself ?

You dont need to do anything, the Ares code is already in the map file.
