actually there is. that tag needsengineer=yes,which is used for tech buildings, has the function
of making the AI not sell the building when captured. it also makes engineers consider it a target
in certain script cases

And why would you want the AI to keep it? Like if they capture your power plant, wouldn't you destroy/recapture it? How have they benefited from the initial attack then?

its more meant to structures like war factory, nuclear silo, barracks. actual structures that benefit the enemy

in order to make, for example, a soviet AI build allied units through a captured barracks, you will need to also write a bunch of AI
triggers for the AI. I recall doing this once and the outcome was quite amusing. though when the AI has two or more the same factory
type, any units or buildings it makes will be cloned by each factory, so its a bit game-breaking.

But because the AI ignores prerequisite, those triggers would have to explicitly check they own the captured structure instead of some other meaningful trigger. And my point still stands, if they capture it from you, you probably have an easier time destroying it anyway, so they can't really benefit...

thats exactly what i did, and it worked great. albeit it was for a mod map where the AI captured random base buildings around the map and used them.
I can see it working out if the AI captures forward bases or other AI structures. Its just that the AI has the multiple factory bug, plus it calculates its base
center off of some weighted average of it's buildings locations meaning having structures scattered across the map can cause some abnormal unit rallying
behavior.
