Notepad++ v8.6.1 has been released!

The staff from Notepad++ has recently posted Notepad++ v8.6.1. For those unfamiliar with it, Notepad++ is a free and open-source code editor and Notepad replacement that runs on Windows. It supports several programming languages, multiple tabs, plugins, and is based on the powerful editing component Scintilla.

In the previous version, v8.6, we introduced the “column mode to multi-editing” to enhance the user experience for Notepad++ users. However, it’s impossible to make every user happy with any new feature of the software, so an option is added to disable the “column mode to multi-editing”. Also, another option is added in v8.6.1 to disable the shortcuts for copying/cutting/deleting an entire line when there’s no selection.
This release includes numerous bug fixes and new features.

Fix a regression: the position in the previous session is now restored correctly in the cloned document.
Fix a regression: a customized extension in Style Configurator is now saved correctly.
Add an ability (disableLineCopyCutDelete.xml) to disable line copy/cut/delete when no selection is made.
Add an ability (noColumnToMultiSelect.xml) to disable column mode to multi-select mode.
Fix deleting in column mode also deletes an unexpected EOL.

Enhance search results by showing search options for “Find in…” commands.

Enhance the “-loadingTime” command line parameter.
Enhance the performance: disable undo collection while loading a file.
Sort language list in the Preferences dialog.
Fix a visual glitch that occurred during multi-paste.
Fix confusing memory allocation error message.
Fix Python's wrong decorator attribute color.
Fix file status in “other view” is not detected.
Fix dropped file being opened in the wrong view.
