ive been recently working on a project utilizing procedural textures and compositing in blender to quickly and easily generate
nice looking LAT tilesets

it uses procedural textures to generate the terrain art, meaning that creating the art for a new tileset can
be done very consistently and efficiently with a high degree of customization; below are a few sample textures
that i created just to demonstrate the tool.

the setup works by first generating an overlay image, and then superimposing it onto existing tile art;

essentially generating an image like the above and then superimposing onto tiles to generate the following

complete with 6 flat tiles to complete the LAT set

after laying the overlay onto an existing tile's art, the image for each individual tile is outputted in the form
of a series of ordered .png files and can quickly and easily be batch converted from png to tmp using an
external tool and integrated into the game in a matter of minutes

as such its simple to generate art for any theater and any custom terrain set merely by changing the
terrain tile that the image gets overlaid onto.

the setup also works to generate tiles for tiberian sun just as easily:

the difference in tilesize causes my compositor preview setup to display the preview image as such, but the
tiles images themselves get rendered A-OK

so there it is. if there is enough community interest in the project i might expand it to include generation for
other things like overlays, roads, cliff, or shores. for now ill make one free pack of custom tiles for anyone
willing to test them for me and post some screenshots of them ingame
