Hey guys , since the source code release i been thinking about a new armor system for generals now if you played a game like company of heroes or sudden strike you would know that armor is much more different than CNC In it having different values according to where the armor is for example front armor reduces more damage than rear now what this creates is fun gameplay of positioning tanks properly instead of just moving them into whatever location , I'm thinking about implementing this sort of armor mechanic in generals my question was is this possible?

Is it possible to make crusader tanks reduce 40% of incoming damage when it's hit from the front and 10% damage when it's hit from the rear? Does it require special model editing to assign certain values that trigger such mechanic?

Basically vehicles would have front , rear and side armor!

Well with the source code anything is possible with enough time and effort...

The fact that you ask this question makes me think you don't have any experience with C++ or game development tho? Which would be needed to add such a feature.

well that's good to know , yes I'm not a programmer nor am i a game developer but did develop do a little modding for generals i plan to make a realistic generals mod this year i hope to won't expand on it much but tank armor is planned to be included BTW can't we add more armor types here?  If the dynamic armor proves difficult to make some basic armor types like scorpion tank reducing all incoming attacks by 20% would suffice

Reality check; If you dont know C++ or have any experience working with a game engine then you'll need to spend a few years leaning how to do that first before you even start messing around with the General's source code.

Maybe you can find a school/collage nearby that offers programing courses.
