i restarted my computer about a hour ago and i got a error ( see picture ), i have tryed restarting about 4 times and it still happens, it only happens when i open a folder or my computer and so on and some times its random, i have windows xp professional with sp2, does anyone here know what this is?

Well, that's definately really bad...
Explorer.exe is the Windows shell, so that's probably really, really bad.

i kno its a system file, but the bad thing is that i can not backup my stuff at all ( the suff i have on the C:\ drive that is ) and that has most of my things on it Sad

oke you're screwed. the only thing I think you can do is try to fix your explorer.exe with the installation CD or else reinstal your whole computer.
And I know it sucks I had it a few times.

i dont want to try repairing anything becasue i will loose most or all of my work, its all sitting on the desktop, there has got to be another way around it, anyone?

*EDIT*
i just remembered that last night ( before i restarted the computer ) i installed windows blinds, could this have anything to do with it as it does change system files?

How about running your stuff at the standard 3 GHz and not at 3.51.

i took it down to 2.90ghz after that bacasue it was getting a bit hot, its back to 3.01ghz now. it was kinda stupid for me to do that, but i have put it back tho.

I'm happy my pc doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner like Alienware Area 51. (Nice 150Watt processor to cool)

lol, i did kinda fix it ( re-installed Windows lol ), i started up in safe mode and it let me browse folders, so i moved everything to the slave drives, then i formated and installed windows again, thanks for asking all. does any one know what that was or what caused it

I get that with Home edition..but not as bad...it just crashes Explorer, Desktop blanks out, then it..amazingly restarts Explorer, and acts like nothing ever happened. o_O
So brave of Explorer. lol
