So, do you guys know what is behind the scenes on these recent community events? EA is giving us an amazing support!

"Hey guys,

I just wanted to congratulate you on your passionate celebration of the C&C 10th anniversary. I am currently working on various community efforts to support all the sites that are hosting events to celebrate the anniversary. You may have heard I found a treasure trove of C&C paraphernalia, and that is indeed true.

I’m extremely impressed by the amount of heart and dedication you guys have shown the C&C universe, and I feel I can say on behalf of everyone here at EA, I’d like to say thank you for planning a wonderful celebration of the 10th anniversary of Command & Conquer. Keep your eyes peeled on various sites who should be receiving goods from me shortly.

That’s all for tonight, lets get this party started!

APOC

Community Manager & Marketing Liaison

Electronic Arts LA"

So, as you see, EA is sponsoring many of the C&C 10th Anniversary events! And they could sponsor PPM Animation Contest 2 as well if people send more entries. For those who think I'm joking, I can assure you that I am not joking. They currently care about the C&C community and they are helping it. Generals received 2 patches in this year, OMC is receiving more than 5 games as prizes from them, they organized community summits, wrote suggestions from fans, participated from some community forums, etc... They are sponsoring XWIS and many events around the community. Now, if he could update that Generals site...

Anyway, for those who observed EA behaviour before 2005, it's a hell of a progress and I hope it only gets better. My two cents for the day... we'll have more news later.

This may just be a campaign to motivate us to buy BFME2 for modding...

"Community Manager & Marketing Liaison," this is exactly what he does, so it's not really a big surprise. None the less, it's still absolutely brilliant to see that some of the guys down at EA are taking notice of our work to keep the community alive ourselves. It is in their interest to keep these sites motivated. The publicity which communities and sites like, DGNF & PPM give is massive. And I’m thankful to guys like Banshee and Lion for giving us a place to go, when EA certainly didn’t. With any luck, things like this are the first step into better support from EA and of course, RA3 & Tiberian Twilight.

Speaking of competitions & prizes, when does OMC4 start!  Razz

Speaking of bad EA games... FRWL better be decent. Goldeneye:Rouge Agent was a sorry peice of shit that just attempted to ooze money out of Rare's masterpeice, Goldeneye64. EA should think of porting GE over to PC, and making it like UT2K4. Same graphics, too...
