YR - Jingle Bells

OK I finally started my first official mod project: YR - Jingle Bells.

You may guess by the title that this is supposed to be a christmas mod, and I hope I can bring some xmas & winter feeling into it, visually and acustically.

Oh, yeah, it even has a story:

X-Mas is ahead and the Soviets are preparing for it, decorating their buildings and building up a christmas tree.
As likely, Yuri has bad plans: destroying the Soviet dream of XMas with his new creation: the Üsülü.
These slug-like creatures make weird sounds and slime everything.
Besides they eat little children.
Though there's something Yuri does not know... that large XMas tree isn't just a tree...

I'm still not sure how to bring the Allied into the story, they'll probably play a more passive role (for the first time in a mod I think Wink

).

The mod isn't going to be the largest one ever, it's more one for a laugh and making YR fit into the XMas feeling a bit.

It would be funny if PaD did a mission that:

Evil Yuri wants to replace Santa and ruin the Christmas spirit with an automated evil Santa who, on December 25th will use mind control gifts on all the children of the world! (The Soviets or Allies have to stop Evil Yuri and Robot Santa!)

Everybody gets that mind-control Santa idea :p
I dunno yet what to do with it, but mind-control would be kinda lame.

Anyway I wanna present you another infantry now, the Fitz-Elve.
It can fitz around and also fitz away units (no structures).
Oh btw, fitzing is chronoporting, just a hundred times faster.
I think it will replace the Chrono Legionaire. Why replace?
Well, that way I can specify how fast the elve can chrono, which is really fast.

Since it can fitz away things, it dies once something shoots at it, to balance it.

ooh nice, i specially like th presents, i wanna see a big present as a tech building, which gives you some sort of present dropping airstrike.

Hey man,I'm not jealous or anything,I just said that some peple might be offended by it.That's all.

As for me,i'm an agnostic,so I pretty much don't care what people are in a religious sense.

And that part about the elf is extemelly good.I wish that Westwood made the Chrono Legionary like that.

oh oh now I got it!

I was wondering about the Russian newyear and christmas already...
I was unsure before, so I searched for images with xmas trees in moscow on it, and found some.

I read in an additional source now, and your post, and now it's clear to me.
does that have any important consequences for the mod? I don't think so... (OK, Yuri wants to destroy the soviet's newyear, not xmas Wink

)

the elves were planned for the Allied anyway.

there won't be any link, probably not even on xmas.

got a lot of other things to care of.
In addition to that comes the hdd error which took me a lot of motivation in this.
and i'm not into c&c at all at the moment.

that means, i can certainly not guarantee anything.
